Well the van is brilliant! it took about 3 weekends and even with the basic instructions it wasn't hard.
The immediate impact of the van as you open the sliding door is one of warmth and space. I think that is partly the colour scheme which works really well with the silver van and the spaces under the bench and seat for bags. These spaces are a big improvement on our previous more traditional design which had cupboards you either never used or when you did you couldn't find what was in there especially the odd sock.

Effectively turning the 'cooking area' around to the sliding door side of the van is also a really big improvement. You can cook inside, stand just outside the van and cook, or even take the cooker outside without any screws, clips or effort which on a lovely day really puts you where you want to be. Outdoors just like a B-B-Q. I was quite sceptical about the cooker until we used it and find it very efficient, cheap to run and ultimately controllable. A particular surprise was the resistance to drafts if you have the door open. I expected to have to put a wind shield in pace but it really doesn't need it at all. The fridge is also a bonus we hadn't experienced in our old van due to the draw upon the battery. It doesn't seem to take much juice from the battery and cold beer is always best! The sink gave us a ticklish moment when we put hot water in the bottle to clean the system and the heat made a pipe come loose but it was rally easy to get at and fix. We'll use steralising solution next time. The bottle inside the van means it is automatically winterised which was always a problem for us with the old van. Water always froze in the tank under the van whatever we tried.
The transition from seats to bed and reverse is quick and easy with no heavy 'rock and roll' bed to shift back and forth and there is a space saving bonus. Because you aren't sliding the bed back or forward you can use the whole of the space behind and under the bed for packing which doesn't need shifting before bedtime. The mattress is firm, very firm. We got used to it after a couple of nights but did wonder about how lovely a memory foam over lay might be - softies!
Behind the bed we had a full set of both canoeing kit and climbing gear with room to spare and the parcel shelve was a great place for our clothes bags, always accessible and never buried. I did ponder the possibilities of this being another bed for a child?
The lights are just right, cooker works well particularly as you are able to stand outside and cook when it is fine weather. I'm thinking of having a tube on the side of the cooker cupboard to slot a fishing umberella in. Having a fridge is a real bonus we never had before and it opens up what you can buy and chilled wine what more could we want. The parcel shelf was a bit of inspiration on your part. We could keep all our clothes on it all the time, perfect. I did wonder if it could be another bed for a child.
